This little beauty knows the sound of my voice
and comes when I call her. It has taken me
a year to get to this point with her. Yesterday,
she came down the mountain, all by herself, to
check me out. Several minutes later, Mommie
Deerest came, from the opposite direction,
to see if she might be missing something.
This is Patches. She is a piebald whitetail deer. Although she is very pretty, this is not a desired trait. It is thought to be caused by overcrowded deer populations, which is the case here in Bent Tree, Jasper, GA. I will post more pix and video if you'd like to see more of her...
Please scroll down for videos or look thru my video files for Patches and other Bent Tree wildlife.
Thank you for stopping by and please check back often
There will be plenty more to follow...
These seven gentlemen were out for a stroll thru Bent Tree one afternoon. They always appreciate a nice unexpected snack.

Have you ever seen a sun pillar?
Explanation: When the air is cold and the Sun is rising or setting, falling ice crystals can reflect sunlight and create an unusual column of light. Ice sometimes forms flat, stop-sign shaped crystals as it falls from high-level clouds. Air resistance causes these crystals to lie nearly flat much of the time as they flutter to the ground. Sunlight reflects off crystals that are properly aligned, creating the sun pillar effect.

These wild turkeys were thankful that I drove by and gave them all a generous portion of seed.

Today I went "deer hunting". But, it wasn't in the traditional way. I did it my way! Good news is, I was successful. I got my deer. *S* But! She's was all alone!

This is Bent Tree where I live. Autumn here has been totally awesome the past two years!!! Sometimes I think I am dreaming as I meander thru the neighborhood. Mouth gaping wide. I hope you enjoy taking a look at some of the colorful pix I took. I suspect that the spectacular foliage here is a direct result of the drought we have been under.
